I am trying a few different antenna configurations and would like to get
some expert opinion on which of two antennas might work best. I have about
150' between two trees and I wonder if an inductively loaded short dipole at
an
average height of 40' (loading coils in the middle of the legs) would
outperform a full-sized inverted U (where 35' wires on each end of the dipole
to
drop vertically to ground. I know the loading coils may cause some losses and
my stealthy wires can only support some modest sized inductors. I also know
that the high voltage ends of an inverted U antenna are likely to cause losses
when close to the ground.
Has anyone used a short inductively loaded dipole and/or an inverted U who
can shed some light on the relative virtues and pitfalls of each antenna?
Thanks, Paul, K5AF
