The third time's the charm! Jim
K8OZ checked it out and it did not bounce.
Interesting that I found it myself by using
Google. The FAX number has always been
correct (99 312 39 04 20) but please use
the following email address for the Ministry
of Communications in Turkmenistan:
mincom@online.tm
If you previously sent a note in response to
the original post below, please resend it to
the corrected email address above. TU
and my apologies for the inconvenience!
73, Bill W4ZV
P.S. I also found a couple of other websites
which picked up the incorrect announcement.
If you know of one, please forward the correct
email address to them.
The Daily DX published the following today (11 April 2007):
"Amateur Radio in Turkmenistan was suspended by the Ministry of
Communications in mid 2006. Turkmenistan's "president for life"
Saparmurat Niyazov died in late December 2006. EZ8CW, Vit, reports
there has been no change in the status of Amateur Radio since the
change in leadership of the country. Vit asks that Amateur Radio
operators send emails to the Turkmenistan Ministry of Communications
requesting the authorization of legal Turkmenistan Amateur Radio ops
(EZ stations). It is important to stress the importance of Amateur
Radio (i.e. Emergency communications, etc.). Emails can be sent to
mincom@online.tm (now corrected per above info) ."
I also know Alex EZ8CQ is interested in 160
and now has a TS-930S ready to go if they are licensed
again. If you have any interest in hearing EZ on Topband
again, please take a moment to send a note to the above
email address.
