I didn't notice it on the morning in question, but I barely
listened. However, I have observed this several times, usually
around sunset or sunrise, but not always. In every such case,
signals were much better on my low inverted V than any of the
Beverages or the vertical, indicating a high angle of arrival.
Beverages (and some other receive antennas) may show little
directivity for very high angle signals.
