I got up this morning again (about 1030z) to listen for H44MY, and was
pleased to discover he was not only QRV, but also audible for the first
time. Unfortunately, the signal was weak, with quick fades from s-4 peaks to
way down in the noise. There were a lot of east coast and midwest stations
calling him on his QSX frequency, but he was clearly having trouble copying
anyone. He would listen for a little while, then call CQ again. Rinse and
repeat. The only station I ever heard him come back to was VE3QAA, but then
he took a quick fade and it wasn't clear if the QSO was ever completed. I
gave up after an hour and went back to bed.
Maybe tomorrow.

Jim W1YY/7
