There is an item in an old ARRL antenna book showing an 80m dipole residing
in clay pipes just under the surface.

Martin,
I recall an article somewhere about a gentleman who buried a section of
his beverage under a road on his farm. His method was to bury a
non-conductive pipe, then run the beverage through it. He used tennis
balls around the wire inside the pipe to insulate.
Did it work? Not sure. Initial googling has come up empty. But it *has*
been done.

if crossing a driveway above ground is not an option, is ist ok to bury
the beverage wire for, say, 20 feet?
