George was showing S5 for awhile when I first called him around 0750Z,
then rose to S9 on my meter. He peaked at 10 dB over S9 on that meter
when I last heard him at around 0820Z or so. Too bad he couldn't be on
Howland, or Johnston, or Wake, or Kure, or some place uncommon like
that 8-) This was a huge, huge difference from what happened with
VK9CV... but then, they were in a wholly different part of the ocean.
QSB for me with George was very low, and not very deep from what I
heard. The band noise was also very low with almost no t-storm crashes,
and those few just audible to me.I never saw an RBN spot for myself
other than the usual NA receivers, and the easterners seemed to think I
was a bit weaker than usual, too... odd conditions.
I listened and CQed for awhile hoping for one of the ZLs but no dice...
it was too early, I think, just after sunset their time so they were
probably sitting down for supper 8-)

Exactly the opposite from the S. Pacific.
Around 0750 AA7JV/MM -- QTH Nuku Hiva, Marquesas (FO/M) was shown on
the RBN
in W2 with 28 dB snr. I rarely see that. (Of course, very few callers.
this late.)

Well after good conditions on Friday night, Saturday night was rubbish !
RBN reports from EU across the pond were just a few dB above the
noise . . .
So weird that propagation would change that much from night to night.
