Hi -
One day before WW160 CW, I did install a Broadside Beverage antenna in
my farm. Each Beverage is 220m long @ 0.4m high. The spacing between the
two wires is 140m. A magic-T combines the two beverage' coaxes before
feeding the receiver through a 180m-long RG6 coax.
I was amazed with the performance so far! For many NA stations, I was
the only RBN (3V8SS) that managed to get their signals outside US (See:
https://www.kf5eyy.info/WW160Spots.pdf). These stations are in order:
K1KI Day 1, K1LZ Day 2, K3AJ Day 2, K3CCR Day 1, K3LR Day 1, K3ZM Day 1,
N2AA Day 1, N2QV Day 2, W1UE Day 1, W1UE Day 2 and W4NF Day 2.
Of course, these stations were later reported by EU RBNs but not after
at least 10 minutes from my spot.
The 4nec2 model suggest 13db+ of RDF for such antenna. Will keep
monitoring then probably cover other directions.
