I am using the Create RC5A-3 on one of my two towers. I debated, fought,
studied...put off buying this rotator for several years, when I was living
in very windy Casper, Wyoming. The price was just too high! That was just
too much for a rotator!
I always kept two T2X's. One for back-up. I got to looking at what I was
paying a year in rotator repairs; about $100.00 or more. (Mostly...more!)
And finally bit the bullet and bought the aforementioned RC5A3.
It has been almost six years now and no problems...at all.
So, for the price of a back-up motor (rebuilt: $300.00) plus (now) six years
of no repairs: I think I made a good deal.
I still have the T2X's. Been using them on my smaller loaded tower... And
have had some problems with them..
Never had any rotator problems until I started stacking antennaes. And I
will admit that, while i was in Casper and the Chinooks were idling along at
50-70 mph... I did a lot of the damage to the T2X's turning them in the
wind...Couldn't wait a day or two until the Chinooks died out..Had to get
that new one!
Other times it was just that the T2X's were overloaded.
As soon as I get them both rebuilt, I will peddle them and get me another
high-priced Create.
Didn't take any rocket scientist to figure that out.
Another (possible) complaint against JA rotators was no local parts
available. 'Dunno if that is still true..or not? It's not real important
either....Don't need any parts.
If it works, you don't need any parts.
