Hi,

Sorry, I deleted the message before I could copy down the real
thread name.

Your commentary was real interesting Steve. Where do you buy
this special purpose line? It certainly wasn't an option at any of the
several well stocked old-fashioned hardware stores where I purchased my
block and tackle parts. (I define an old-fashioned hardware store as one
where most things do not come in plastic bags, and where they have REAL
heavy duty items such as the pulleys which were forged/galvanized steel.)

My method of raising Rohn 45 was the use of the gin pole and
block and tackle, as well as getting some assistance from my terrific
daughter who was always ready to help her dad with his construction
projects. I was the boss, and I told her that we would keep our eyes on
the tower section AND gin pole at all times while raising it, and that if
I yelled to her to run then it meant to drop the line and run immediately
in the escape direction which we already had decided upon. My job
would be to decide if I should run alongside of her or if I had to do
something to delay the catastrophe in order to make sure she escaped.
(After all, it is much easier to replace tower parts than people, and
dads are quite willing to endanger themselves if it means saving their
children. I am happy to report that we did not ever have any problems.)
Anyway, I'll bet your way requires a lot less expenditure of energy than
mine!
