If you use a pipe/tubing mast, there will be a specific wind
speed which will cause a single tone musical note caused when the wind
blows across the top of the pipe/tubing. This will likely be very loud
and annoying. The way to prevent the problem is to cover up the top hole
in the mast. The easiest and most permanent way which I know is to go
down to your local plumbing store and buy a cap for the size mast
you're are using. It consists of a heavy rubber cap, around which is a
stainless steel hose clamp which tightens up and keeps it from popping off.
For those of us in areas of freezing temperatures, it also prevents water
from getting inside the mast where it may freeze, expand, and do damage.
