ALUMINUM TOWER JOINTS

N4SI correctly pointed out that the joints of ALUMINUM towers are such
that the
upper sections fits INSIDE the lower section, allowing rain into the
joint.

I solved this problem on my 40 ft Aluminum tower by taping each joint
with 
SCOTCH 33 tape.  It is a great all-weather tape that retains it's shape
and adhesion over a wide temperature range.

Galvanized or stainless steel bolts would probably eliminate the bolt
rusting 
problem.  Which is best to use with Aluminum?

Another weakness of the aluminum towers is that the steps tend to bend if
if the climber is on the heavy side or steps with great force on the
center of the step.
