I have never tried this with PL259s but it works great for the danged
phone plugs and RG8X - I expect it would work with PL259s and RG213

Simply bunch the braid slightly to fit over the outside of the connector
and then fasten it in place with shrink wrap - I think the 3/4 inch size
would clamp the braid very tightly on the outside of a PL259 - this
is the basic technique used in CATV drop cables where an F connector is
used with a crimp ring on the braid.
