There is also a unit that used to be made by Klein. (Not sure if it is
still made.) It is called a deceleration unit. It has a rectangular pouch
about a foot long containing several feet of wide fabric belting that is
stitched together. The pouch has a D-ring on one end and a lanyard and
D-ring at the other. The lanyard is about 2' long. The idea is that if you
fall, the stitching will rip out at a pre-determined rate and decelerate you
(at least slow you down) so injury is minimized to some degree.

It is a nice additional safety piece in unique situations. I use it
specifically when climbing over and around ring rotators.

Have a good day and 73,
