It has been my experience in the mail order business that when shipping
to an address other than the invoice address on the card, the cardholder
can claim never received and you are up the proverbial creek with SOME
card companies. If you have ever dealt as a merchant with a card
company service (not the actual card issuer) then you know what I am
talking about. These folks are merciless with merchants!
Gerald at Texas Towers has undoubtedly been burned, maybe more than once
with this. Merchants are cautioned about this when getting the
equipment to charge purchases. Apparently it is a major scam
Please, I am not insinuating at all that hams are scams, just trying to
throw out one reason Gerald may not want to do any charges where the
ship to is different than the billing address as a general policy.
There are many merchants I am sure who have done this successfully. We
also didn't take a chance UNLESS we knew the person.
