It really depends on whether you like working with the soldering iron
(synchronous transformers) or the hacksaw/pipe cutter (multiples of
1/2 wavelength).   ;-)

At the K1MNS (now K1CA) m/m in Derry NH, we always went the 1/2 wave
route, and 'tuned' the hard line for minimum VSWR at a midband point.
Most of the runs have been up close to ten years now with no problems.

Save the solder.....cut the rod!
