I have not had any problems using angle aluminum U-bolted
across tower legs. (No different than U-bolting small Yagi's 
with aluminum boom to mast plates).

Another option is to use pressure treated 2 X 2's or 2 X 4.

To better isolate the inverted vee from the tower, it might help
to use either a balun or coaxial choke at the feedpoint.
