We have found that more often than not, the culprit is bad lightning
arrestors on the pole.  These things seem to get dirty and go bad, leaving a
path for the ac to arc across.  Replacing them often does the trick.

2nd most popular problem is loose hardware, or bad grounding usu. associated
with the arrestor.

Real bad ones can be detected on quiet, directive antennas like beverages up
to a few miles away!!!!
