>IS a yagi antenna with parasitic elements which are not connected to the
>boom still a yagi antenna. IOW what is the nomenclature difference?
Yes, it is. The connection to the boom makes no difference in the
functioning of a yagi except for a slight change in the resonant
frequency due to the shorting effect of the boom. The boom can be
metal, plastic, wood, whatever and aside from the freq change, the
functioning will be the same.
