Or loosen the motor mounting and turn the ring (pretty easy job), in fact
this is the easiest way to align the antennas anyway.
Also....
have a number of 1022's (8) and have not had the problem you speak of.
Perhaps it was a bad part to start with. I know that if you call TIC up
they might recommend replacing the Clarostat with a Bourns, something about
holding up better in the cold if I recall. I didn't bother to change when I
had lightning problems - blew out three of the pots (open) , and yes it is a
pain in the rump to repair.
I just bought a box of 10 Clarostats from Digikey ($10.00 ea. that way and I
figure there may be problems in the future)
I also blew out the op amps in the controller boxes of several of the rings,
put in sockets for the next time they go.
One hint, when you put the woodruff key and gear back in put some grease or
something on it. These were almost impossible to get apart.
