One question concerning the tying of all the ground points together.

My house electrical ground is the cold water pipe in the basement.  
Should I also tie to this point.  I am concerned about having about a 
40 foot run from the shack to this point and shunting a lot of 
lightning through the house.  Sounds scary to me.

I also have an eight foot ground rod on one side of my house closest 
to the roof tower and another on the other side of the house where 
the coax enters the shack.  I will be tying these two together along 
with the cable TV ground rod that is about 1/2 way between the two 
(and well protected by lots of cememt (the patio) -- bet that one 
enjoys a lot of dry soil!.
