Some of the REAL early models were not dc-blocked (Patented only in 1982 or so)
so
you'll see a short center pin to center pin.

On the standard dc-blocked models, you should not have a short circuit center
pin to
center pin or center pin to case. If you do, it's bad (but you would probably
have VSWR
and other problems with a center pin to case short). If both paths are open,
that's correct;
however, the only way to verify correct operation is with a device known as a
hi-pot tester.
We used to make one but recently discontinued doing so, but there are plenty of
good ones
out there for sale or rent. If you want, we'll test them for you. Call first
for a RMA #, don't just
send it in! The tel # is 800 325 7170.

I have several PolyPhaser coax protectors--some are many years old. Is
there a test I can perform to assure that they are still functional? If
possible, I would like to build a piece of test equipment that I could use
to check them periodically.

Thanks & 73,
Dan
