I was the person who noted the HyGain boom to mast clamshell clamp 's
advantages. It is a lot harder to describe the method than to actually
do it. But I will try. If you are still confused, phone me for more at
(407) 349-2211.

First, the HyGain clamshell mount is designed for easy of installation.
Step 1, put in the two bolts that hold just the clamshell together around
the mast at the attachment point. Tighten . Bring up to the clamshell
the whole antenna or just a part of the boom that contains the center
fitting (HyGain standard fitting). Put one bolt through the clamshell and
also through the boom fitting. Tighten lightly. Hinge the boom downward
to have access to the elements on that end (lower end) of the boom. Then
hinge the boom the other way to get access to the other end of the boom.
Finally, hinge the boom to a horiz. position and insert the other three
bolts and tighten all four bolts.
The earlier two bolts' heads and nuts are still accessable in case you
need to align the antenna toward a particular direction relative to the
mast.
Boy, should I write instruction books, or what??? de K4VUD
