[TowerTalk] Estimating/checking antenna vertical radiation pattern

Has anyone ever tried to estimate/check the vertical radiation pattern of a 10m
antenna (or terrain influence on -) by recording the signal strength of one
of the RS satellites on 29 MHz (with appropriate corrections)?

I would like to explore this approach but do not want to re-invent the wheel,
I am sure I am not the first one to come up with this idea.
