As K4OJ suggests, swagged tubing is one way to make boom
assemblies.
A simpler and less expensive method is to merely use couplers
made of the next smaller and next larger size tubing. Four 1/4 inch
stainless steel bolts should secure the coupler.
Texas towers sells aluminum tubing (.056 wall thickness)
in 1/8 inch increments which telescopes nicely. You can
double wall near the center for extra strength. Six ft pieces
can be shipped via UPS.
