Many thanks to all who replied. Turns out there is indeed a ready-made
unit, from MFJ, to do what I want. Several others, K1TTT amoung them,
had some great ideas for homebrewing such a device. As always, the folks
on this list never cease to amaze me. Thanks again to all who took the
