Contrary to popular opinion, higher is NOT always better.
During DAYTIME conditions, especially with higher sun spot
activity, 40 ft is often better than higher antennas on the high bands.

My 20M WARC dipole is at 50 ft between two towers.
One of my 80M dipoles is supported at 70 ft between
two towers, center at 60 ft, running north - south. This
was my PRIMARY antenna for Eastern and Western Asia,
South America and the Antarctic Islands. An 80M dipole
at 100 ft broadside to Southern Europe (60 degrees) put a
nice lobe into Central Asia (JT, VU, Zone 18 USSR, etc.)

An Inverted VEE with an apex angle of 90 degrees is nearly
omni-directional on the WARC bands but the gain is REDUCED
compared to a flat 80M or half-wave dipole.

A good half wave dipole is probably a better bet if you cannot
get your 80M antenna horizontal. The Cushcraft D3W is a
nice 3 band WARC antenna that is easily side mounted.
A pair of them at right angles will give nearly full coverage.
