It depends on the soil. In alkaline soils, copper clad is fine. In acidic
soils, especially when wet most of the time, steel and copper clad may not
last, and some people have recommended galvanized rods

In my area the only ground rods readily available are steel, in lengths of
8' and 10'. Is it advisable to use these (apparently the Power Company
does), or is copper clad steel the rod of choice?
