Hi Tom,

You're right on, the Gap always is a poor performer on it's lowest
designated band and OK on the next bands up. The reason is simple. The
mini-RG8X foam coax GAP uses internally for matching gets REAL hot meaning
that is where the power is going (to heat the matching transformer-not to
heat the onosphere!) and guess what? At about 1000 watts of applied power
on one we tested, the coax matching transformer MELTED and that was the end
of the antenna. Enough said!
