I also have had problems with steel wire rusting in just a few years. Like
you, I have found aluminum wire to be superior for the Texas area as well. An
excellent source is Home Depot who sells aluminum electric fence wire for
around $8 for a 500 ft spool. Works great, lasts a long time --
