Probably nothing changed on the tower or the feedline from the shack. (How long
ago did he measure the first swr readings?)

Either the lengths changed a lot in the shack when he added the linear, or he
added a bad piece of coax to hook up the linear, or he moved a bad piece of coax
to where it hurts the readings now, OR he's looking through the linear to see
the swr using the swr meter in the transceiver (as in the FT 1000MP, which will
never work right looking through a linear).

The swr bridge has to be the LAST thing in the shack that the RF goes through,
for BOTH sets of measurements in order to make any valid comparison.

If the swr was measured that way, it is possible he is over-driving the linear
and the bridge is also measuring harmonic energy which will not terminate
correctly and will foul the readings.

Question is, though, is he still hearing and working people?

Subject: [TowerTalk] FL2100Z SWR INSERTION

Hello dear TTalkians

A friend of mine installed a C3 - F12 and was very satisfied with the VSWR
curve. At the center of each band he got:

14.0 = 1,2
21.0 = 1,5
28.0 = 1,4

he had problems when added the linear (YAESU FL2100Z) on the line. The VSWR
rises to:

14.0 = 1,5
21.0 = 2,2
28.0 = 2,2

Has anyone experenced this problem before?

Happy 2K  4  everybody
