[TowerTalk] Number of Radials?

N6BV has postulated that elevated radials need to be 0.05 WL
(wavelengths) or more above ground for good efficiency. That
corresponds to 7 ft on 40M, 14 ft on 80M, 28 ft on 160M.

My 80M elevated GP with 10 radials at 15 ft feels very competitive.
My 160M elevated GP (135 ft of R25) with 6 elevated radials at 15M
feels less competitive but still works most DX eventually (XZ, ZD9, JA
etc.)

I have heard reports of people using only 2 radials but I expect
that "more is better". For ground mounted radials or elevated
radials less than 0.05 WL high, 30 or more provide good efficiency.
