I have a used 40' tower that measures 12" o.s. the face with 1 1/4" o.d.
tubes (16 to 18 ga.) and 1" o.d. cross braces with no diagonals. The 10'
sections weigh about 30 to 32 lbs. ea. There will be two antennas (10M 4el.
yagi at 43'
and an Imax or antron vertical at 50') mounted on a 2" o.d. x 3/16" wall SAE
1026 mast.
The rotor is about 5' down from top of tower. The tower base is a super
duty hinged unit set in
concrete and there is enough room (and a big tree to hook a rope block to)
to swing everything
up and down easily to service it without climbing. Guying will probably be
kevlar at 25' and 40'
with ground screw anchors out about 32'. I am in a 70 mph wind zone
(southern WV).
I plan to use this for a one to two years before upgrading to a 50' crankup.
The tower is still on the ground (waiting on the concrete to cure).
I have used tall guyed masts with verticals for 11M but this is my first
tower.
Any suggestions or comments that might save me some grief later????
