The open wire line, expecially with the larger spacings, has the
tendency to radiate, mostly in the higher bands but at certain amount
also in the lower ones, expecially when the load is not matched. (think
about a 2 wire beverage).
Unfortunately, this tendency to radiate is not one way but a reversible
*feature* and actually means that the line somehow behaves like an
antenna thus pick upping the noises or disturbing nearby PCs, TNC,
domestic appliances, etc.
One has to evaluate if it's really worth to deal with such a
transmission line type because apart the advantage to have a smaller
loss in case of an high SWR, everything else appear to be quite
unpractical (construction, installation, etc.) and complex (field is
not totally confined, modern rigs have unbal. out, etc.) if compared
with a classical coaxial line.
