The latest in a long series of questions related to
my tower project in Boonville, CA...
I want to truss the boom of my 40 meter yagi. I can
use stainless steel wire rope, but I'd prefer not to
use something metalic. The obvious candidate seems
to be kevlar rope, which is available from my local
West Marine for about the same cost as stainless
cable.
This rope has a kevlar core, and a white polyester
cover or outer braid. The idea is that the polyester
protects the kelvar from UV. Does anyone have
experience using this type of rope for trussing
applications? I'm a bit worried about the 24/7
exposure to UV degrading the rope over time...
