Based on my modeling experience (eznec) , getting the phasing right is a big
I recently stacked two 6m antennas. I modelled two indentical 5 element
antennas on 19' boom, vertically stacked with 16' between them. The gain
increased by about 2db over a single 5 element yagi.
Replacing the bottom by a 3 element totally spoiled the pattern. The launch
angle moved up considerably.
I next adjusted the antenna below so that the two driven elements were in
the same vertical plane (one exactly above the other). This fixed the launch
angle but the gain was only 0.5 db better than the 3 ELE LOWER antenna.
I did not try other adjustments. It seems that it is really worthwhile to
consider phasing. After all, that is what produces the gain in the first
