A BNC connector is dimensionally very similar to a 50 ohm N
connector in the current carrying parts and spacing. As a matter of
fact, if you grind off the locking bayonet, you can use BNC males
as a quick connect that fits a 50-ohm N.
High power is less of a problem for unsoldered 259's than low
power. If you run enough power, poor connections will arc weld
themselves together. The biggest problem with connections that
are just laid together is when receiving.
