First, thanks for all the comments on my request.  It's been said many times, 
but you guys are a great resource.

Secondly, I guess I'm going to try a rotatable dipole on the tower.  This 
should be fairly easy to try (I think I can borrow one locally) and I can 
compare the vertical I have to the dipole directly.  This leads to one more 
question.  I am using a 2 element 6 band (20 - 6) quad (not a spider).  Should 
the dipole be mounted parallel or perpendicular to the boom?  I cannot mount it 
above or below the quad element wires, so it will have to 3 - 4 feet above the 
boom.  Thanks in advance.
