People,
Today I had my first SteppIR x SteppIR QSO.
I installed my 3el + 6m on July 14 at my summer QTH on
Nantucket Island, MA. This afternoon and evening was
my first dedicated clump of time and except for the
fact that 12, 10 and 6 have been dead, it has been a
grand experience.
It started with EG9IA on 17 followed by 9K2OK. Then
EG9IA on 20. I moved off frequency and said 1-2-3
test and was called by 8Q/DL1SMT. Other QSO's logged
ZX7XX, JY5HX and 4X4WN. Just about every contact got
S9++ reports, including a long chat with DF2BO from
Optibeam.
The day was topped off with a two-way SteppIR with
GW3YDX. I had a bit of fun and held my tongue as he
told me about his antenna and went through the 180
degree demo. I then fessed up and we had a grand chat
comparing notes.
If 6m would only open.....
