Have you ever driven into a Parking Garage while listening to
an AM BC station?  It practically disappears, even Local Stations.
The 'mesh' formed by the steel columns and rebar in the concrete
is nearly as effective as a shield room for long wavelength (low
frequency) signals.  For all intents and purposes, that mesh fence
can be thought of a a solid metal wall  (presumably grounded at
each fence post) at 3.5 MHz.
