Two of the best verticals for 160/80/40 are no longer made. The Uni-Hat
CTSVR was reviewed by Lew McCoy and is in his last antenna book. The
Gladiator line of Low band verticals also went out of business. KR1G used
one on 160 with good results...both are short top loaded verticals.
The Uni-Hat I had ran circles around the GAP in direct comparisons on both
DX and stateside

Most any vertical will work Ok on 20 to 10. Gus Browning used a 14AVQ
mounted on a push up mast for his Dxpeditions. Its on 160 and 80 where many
of the commercial verticals fall down.
The Hy-Gain 18HT is probably the best for 80 to 10 but avoid the 160 loaded
coil for 160. The K7GCO modification for 160 (adding a top wire) is

In any case a good radial system is a requirement (unless you are on salt
water!). The more the better.
