If you are east of the Rockies, you need something
that favors EUROPE.  

I would suggest a vertically polarized Delta Loop
which has an oval pattern (maybe 3 dB F/S)
and should work well everywhere.  Aim it broadside
to Europe for best overall coverage.  Feed it 1/4 WL
down from the Apex with a 1/4 WL matching section
of 75 ohm coax such as RG59 followed by 50 ohm 
line of any length.
