...I put together a Skyhawk for another ham and was very impressed with
it - a quality job.

It is a competitor to the Force 12 - I would put them in the same league...

One thing I found very neat about the Bencher was when we opened the box
the was a plastic bag sleeve for each element containing all the tubing
for one element....segregating it from the rest of the components - the
only thing that was awkward was the double walled boom - it is in many
pieces to make it easily shipable and they have to line up - you have
holes, etc that have to be in the right place - after a few minutes of
deductive logic that was overcome and all we did was follow the
instructions and ended up with a high class antenna.

I am also a fan of Force 12 - again, they are both very good choices as
far as one versus the other - if you had had similar frequency
requirements (which you do not with the add of 40) I would not tell you
one over the other.

The only downside of BOTH of these antennas is the current technology of
thinner elements means you have to be careful when installing the
antenna - it is easy to accidentally loose track of an element tip - and
the tips on both of these are thin enough you CAN bend them to the point
of kinking...they are not Telrex elements - but the new thought - low
weight low wind drag for survivability - better to give in to an
inevitable force than to try and withstand it with brute size.

GL - the guy who has the Bencher should have no problem selling it - if
you want it you better jump!
