I built split, hairpin match elements for my 80m Yagi.  I have some photos

Split elements are very easy to build using available plumbing pipe and
rubber (self amalgamating) and vinyl tape with conventional U-Bolts.
Fiberglas rod or tube is readily available from Mcmaster-Carr.
Watch out for the parallel capacitance introduced by the split element
mounts......this can cause the element tuning to differ from calculated NEC
dimensions.
