Gregg: I built split, hairpin match elements for my 80m Yagi. I have some photos at my webpage here: http://www.qsl.net/ve6wz/intro.htm Split elements are very easy to build using available plumbing pipe and rubber (self amalgamating) and vinyl tape with conventional U-Bolts. Fiberglas rod or tube is readily available from Mcmaster-Carr. Watch out for the parallel capacitance introduced by the split element mounts......this can cause the element tuning to differ from calculated NEC dimensions. de steve VE6WZ  |
