some additional options:

1. buy/rent a "hickey bar" or "hickey bender" which is a lot like a conduit
bender people are familiar with, but designed for rebar.  I bought a small
one which does 1/2" easily for $18 at a supply store.   Although bending is
easy, it is not possible to make very tight radius bends.

2. rent a "rebar bender/cutter" from your local tool rental.  This is also a
hand tool (but costs $100's) which has a small head for bending/cutting
mounted to about a 5 foot frame.  This tool cuts 1/2" rebar like butter, and
bends nice sharp angles and even allows one to create complete loops.  A
