When choosing rope to pull through with your cables, use a plaited or woven rope, not one where the strands have been twisted during manufacture.

A twisted construction rope will tend to untwist as you apply a load to pull it through the conduit, thereby twisting itself around the cable it is being pulled with. It makes for great difficulties when you wish to pull that extra and urgently needed cable through.
