The Leatherman (and others) multi-purpose tool solves this problem.
Don't go anywhere without one.
The one I'm currently carrying has vise-grip type pliers. This is a wonderful
tool.
One of these and one of those screwdrivers that has 4 screwdriver bits and a
1/4 and 5/16s nut driver built in really cuts down on the tools you'll miss up
top.
