I have used them for many years without any problems.

On a 105' of Rohn 25 the top two sets of guys start out with 20' rods at the 
tower and lower two sets of guys start with the small ones..about 18" long.  
This effectively insulates the tower from the guys to permit shunt feeding, if 
desired.  Guys are also broken up with egg insulators after the fiberglass rods 
as the guys continue to ground.

If you can get them, use them.  Just make sure they are not physically damaged.
