This is a natural effect of copper and bronze ground clamps. They are a
soft metals and pressure applied to tighten the clamp will diminish as
the soft metal compresses and relieves the tightened clamp. That's why
ground wires should be welded to ground rods to maintain the connection
or you have to keep tightening the clamps. Soon you've tightened the
clamp to the steel inside the ground rod with little connection to the
copper.

I was surprised to find that those bronze clamps were loose on every
ground rod after 8 years. Maybe you need to retighten them every so
often? That is why for every connection to the ground rods I now use
Cadweld one-shots. Also recommend you use solid copper wire over
stranded wire. Only got about 8 years of use out of the stranded copper
wire here in New York
