It is my understanding that the Nickel miners strike has more to do with
this than anything. First stainless went through the roof, then alloys employing stainless. Al is up partially because of strking bauxite miners, increased fuel costs partially because of the bandwagon effect. Scrap is up but Ni bearing scrap is way up. China is building and manufacturing. Manufacturing equipment, machinery, cutting tools, all need Ni alloy steel. If you want to bitch, bitch at the Canadians, the Russians, and the unions too. It's not as simple as, "the Chinese are buying all the scrap" and our M*3 industries failure to continue investment in R&D&infrastructure back in the late 50's. -bob _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
