I am very interested in the well pipe element of the
current tower ground thread.
We are awaiting a County permit and will be building
a new home this summer (steel walls and roof).
We are using all cpvc for water in the house because
here in lightning-prone West Central Florida pinhole
leaks in solder joints are a common problem from
indirect lightning strike surges into homes.
The well-head is 30-40 feet from the common service and
the common service/tower entry-point into the house.
We planned cpvc for the water line into the other side
of the house but there is, of course, an electrical cable
for the well pump -- I suppose coming from the common
entry-point to the well-head.
Do I need to run a heavy ground wire from the well-head
in addition to the power cable for the submersible
pump?
Should I ground the wire from the well-head to the
common entry-point with 8 foot ground rods at more
than one point in between?
Any chance doing any of this may increase the pick-up
of ground surges?
